Walk the original performance stations of the York Mystery Plays.

One of the extraordinary things about the York Cycle is that most of the original route can still be followed and some of the structures connected with the event still remain.
So, ahead of the coming Festival in June, we are delighted to be able to offer a taster event on the York Residents’ Weekend: Saturday 31st January and Sunday 1st February.
Expert guides will take you on a stroll through the original locations for performances of the medieval plays, where you can see for yourself the challenges and opportunities they will have faced.
Timber-framed buildings specialist David Farrar will also talk you through some of the remaining structures along the route.
The walk will take around two hours and the meeting place is Bedern Hall, off Goodramgate.
For further information please look at the Bedern Hall website and social media. Walks will run throughout both days and further information on the Festival as well as refreshments will be available at Bedern Hall.
If you miss it though, don’t worry. In the June Festival itself there will be a beautiful map designed by Jo Rodwell available, packed with information for you to use. Or you can take the trail with a guide. Or even follow it independently using audio.
We’re always keen to help everyone can connect with the Festival in ways which suit them.
